About

My name is Stephanie and I am owned by a wonderful, big English Mastiff named Bruiser. On September 15th 2010, Bruiser was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his front, right leg. My husband and I were devastated when we received the news. The first vet we saw recommended euthanasia, but we were not ready for that. We got another vet and she explained our options. After further tests and a lot of coming to terms, we opted for amputation.  The amputation was performed on the 20th of September and we were able to bring him home on the 22nd of September. We are currently in the throws of recovery and I am all over the place with my emotions. I was told the first few weeks would be hard, but I did not realize what an intense time this would be. I am grateful to have found tripawds.com as I now realize I am not alone and things will get better.

  1. Hi Stephanie. I am so glad you found Tripawds. It has changed my life. Indi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had her front left leg amputated on August 31. We are only a month ahead of you. I have found so much support here. Check out my blog and let’s be friends! If you want 😉 Where do you live? I ask because we are in Portland, the Craftsman capital.

  2. Hi Raina and Indi. Bruiser and I are in Denver, CO. Its so nice to have a friend here on tripawds! I,too, and SO happy to have found this site and can’t imagine going through this without the option of learning from others and seeing how well dogs recover.
