Lost a leg, gained my life!

More Mets, Fluids, and a New Tumor

December 30th, 2011 · 7 Comments · Uncategorized

Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

I am so sad to say that after a visit to the vet yesterday, we learned that Bruiser has more lung mets, fluid in his lungs and now a tumor growing where his front leg used to be. He is also not acting like his usual silly self.

We have him at home and are keeping him comfortable. Our vet thinks we have “a few days to a few weeks” with him. We are so sad because, like any tripawd parent, we want him to live with us forever. We don’t want to say good-bye.

In the meantime, I am trying to enjoy the time we do have together. As I write this, he is by my side in the bed. He is so special to me and I want to remember our good times – and there are plenty of them! I hope to create some more good times over the next few days.

we are so very sorry to hear that bruiser’s body is starting to fail him. it is so hard to see them struggle to be our brave heroes, knowing that we much be even braver, and let them go. stephanie, know that we are all here for you and wish only the best for your family and for bruiser. he is a true tripawd hero.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Bruiser. You are right — we do want them to live forever. And it’s never easy to say good-bye even under the best of circumstances. But we are here for you, to offer support and friendship, so that when the time comes, you will not be alone in your grief.

I’m awfully sorry to hear this about Bruiser. Bruiser is such a strong boy, and he has served his community in such a brave way by giving inspiration to others with cancer. I know it’s easier said than done, but remember that all Bruiser knows is that he loves his family, and his family is with him, loving him right back.

I’m so sorry to hear the news about your beautiful boy. You are so right; we all want our tripawds to live forever. Nobody wants to face That Day – the one we all dread. But we are here for you. I hope you enjoy whatever time you have left with him and have peace knowing that he’s felt so much love from you.

    Hang in there,
